Proverbs 10:19
In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.
In the day of the keyboard and internet mankind has all but forgotten that you do not have to speak your mind on every subject, nor do you have to share your thoughts with all people. Every word that man says or writes can and will be used against him by his enemies, and if a man is Godly he is doubly a target of abuse.
But wisdom warns not just of having one’s words used against them, it warns that the man that speaks too much and too often will say things that are not good, not true, and harmful to others. In short, If man wants to show his wisdom he will say nothing most of the time, and he will only speak when his words have been considered and communicated properly.
Do you speak too much wanting to be heard? The wise man shows his wisdom by his refrain from speaking, the fool shows his foolishness by his desire to speak too readily and often.
