Jeremy Walker (00:14):

And welcome back to another episode of The Last Kingdom. I am your host, Jeremy Walker. This is episode number 19 for July 28th, 2024, and it is entitled Train Up a Child. Now, this episode we're going to be talking about quite a few subjects about our futures, our nation's futures, our personal futures, our children's futures, how we're supposed to think about those things and even touch on a lot of topics, but the biggest question is, how is a Christian's perspective different from non-Christians and is that something that makes a difference? So let's go ahead and get started on this episode of The Last Kingdom entitled Train Up a Child.

(01:06):

I want to start this episode. I just this week watched the presidential debate between the ex-president or previous president Donald Trump and possibly most likely the president to be and our current president, Biden, and everybody around the world watch the same thing and we'll be discussing that as well, but the real question is not about what happens at Capitol Hill, not what happens at Washington, but what happens in your home, and what happens in your home is far, far more important than what happens in Washington, specifically with guiding and shaping the future.

(01:52):

Let's go ahead and start with Proverbs 22:6. This is from the King James version and something that I think most people have heard before. "Train up a child in the way that he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Now, that is a very popular passage, and I've talked about this subject many times and lots of educators have so of Christians, but here's another version of that, a different translation, if you will. This comes from the Berkeley version, also reading from Proverbs 22:6, "Educate a child according to his life requirements. Even when he is old, he will not veer from it." That is a wonderful, wonderful variation, a wonderful variation, which I think gives a different spin, understanding about what we are supposed to be doing, specifically with children because it talks about something completely different, his life requirements.

(03:02):

We have to ask ourselves a question. As parents first, and of course if you're an educator, I am, I'm an educator, been one my entire life, what is it that a child needs? Now, there's quite a few things that children need, and those are the basic foundational beliefs about the world, the basic foundational moral values that come from the 10 Commandments in the Bible and, of course, it bleeds over into how they act and how they grow and how they thrive, but then there are life requirements as well, so it goes beyond just the basics.

(03:38):

Now, we can make an argument that the basics are not being taught, absolutely not being taught. It used to be called Western civilization. That's right, the West, America, England. And civilization was called civilization because it made man civilized. The difference between the civilized man and the barbarian, it can be seen in the man wearing a suit, dressed nicely, sitting down at a table, using a fork and spoon, saying hello, good morning, holding the door, basic manners, all these basic things that you would have, which we would call civilized, and then you have the barbarian, the dirty, the uncovered, the loin cloth, the foul mouth, the violent, the long-haired, long fingernailed, uncouth, grabs food with their hands, chews on it and eats, wipes their face on their clothing if they have any. These would be the uncouth, the ones that cannot, cannot properly work in a society.

(04:53):

If we look around right now, people like to call it lots of different things right now. They do, and they get caught on these words like Whiteness. That's a big one or colonialization is another one. Really, what they're upset with out there in the norm is that as Christianity has spread over the last 2,000 years, it has brought civilization with it, a common care for our fellowman, a common law that governs all people, powerful and poor alike, and this is something that people despise. They absolutely hate it with every fiber of their being, and it's really simple why. Fallen man. Fallen man hates God, hates God's order, and he would rather live in hell than serve in heaven, as Milton said.

(05:54):

Now, us as Christians, us as parents, we do have to acknowledge that there are many evils in the world, and if it wasn't for the modern advances of technology and the internet, we would not see 99.9% of the evil that is going on in the world. We just would not see it. Most of it is not in your local community. The vast majority is not in your local community. It might be in your country, let's say the United States. In the United States, there are many problem areas, hot spots, if you will, of giant problems, criminalization and debauchery and the likes, but in most places in the United States, that's not the case.

(06:43):

In fact, if you cannot go outside your doors and see, most of the things that you see on the internet. They're kind of locales of certain areas, but the vast majority of America is not that way. Around the world, it is not that way. There are hot spots of problems around the world, but over the last 2,000 years, the world has become more civilized.

(07:09):

If you don't believe me, all you have to do is look at what the world looks like and how they treat each other. Are there people running around right now, countries, with hatchets and murdering each other or most of it, is it done verbally? They're trying to insult each other, they're trying to demean each other, they're trying to tear down each other's public image, but they're not pulling out the tanks, they're not pulling out the bombs and the jets and they're not murdering each other. Lack of a better term, things are constantly getting better and they have been for 2,000 years. Just in my lifetime, things have improved greatly.

(07:47):

It also means that because man is becoming more self-consciously good in many areas, he's also becoming more self-consciously evil, which is why you see things like what happened recently in the White House where they're celebrating sexual perversions. Now, when I was growing up in school, they had sex ed classes, which, of course, I'm completely against. However, they had them and they would teach you the dangers of sexual promiscuity, heterosexual promiscuity they didn't even have, although homosexual indoctrination stuff that they have now, but it was said to be a danger, severe danger, sexually transmitted diseases.

(08:31):

There used to have a thing called GRIDS, Gay-Related Immune Deficiency Syndrome. Why? Why the name? Because the vast majority of people who had the immune deficiency disease were people who were men who had sex with men. This was a scientific fact and still is. Then of course, I said, "Well, this breeds the idea that it's only people who are men, who are homosexuals that this disease afflicts," and so they had to change the name to AIDS, Autoimmune Deficiency Syndrome.

(09:05):

Well, this of course was still not enough because now they switched it because they did not want to stigmatize perversion. They didn't want to separate that from God's format for sex and how it's supposed to be used between a man and a woman within marriage, and there is no disease afflicting married couples. I don't want to use the word heterosexual because that's just normal. We don't need to give it a name. Sex between a man and a woman is how man is created.

(09:36):

Homosexuality is the perversion, but you can give that a name, but any of the perversions that are out there, it doesn't matter what type it is, if it does not meet the norm, if it is not within marriage, so once again you have men and women who are promiscuous, they are going to be filled with diseases as well, and that is what the world sees.

(09:59):

Now, when I was growing up, that was a high topic of discussion, and they're trying to educate the youth, educate the public. Now, they don't have that at all. In fact, sexual perversions are not only not stigmatized, they're not told to be dangerous, they're actually highly promoted and equated with everything else.

(10:20):

Love is love is the term that they have now. Well, no, sex is not sex. There is a difference, a vast difference, a very physical difference. They've also gone from calling things diseases to calling them infections. They're no longer STDs for sexually transmitted disease, it's now a sexually transmitted infection. That's right, an infection like you would get if you had a lung infection and got a cold or something else like that or you got a cut on your arm and it got infected and you just needed to go put some peroxide on it and get rid of that infection or maybe you needed to go get something to help your immune system to catch back up, an antibiotic or otherwise. Just kind of kick that infection, no big deal because they don't want to talk about reality as it is because if you did, then you would be giving children a proper education. You would be giving them a proper education and that education is Christian. That's right.

(11:24):

The world without Christianity is barbaric. It is barbaric. Look in America today. They have now been in public schools the whole concept of public education. Really, it's humanistic education. They claim it's not religious, but it absolutely is, and because of that, we've been having children now in public or government educations now for 50 to 100 years. And from when I was in about 25 years ago, things have completely gotten worse. The small, very small bit of Christian influence that we had during my time is completely gone, completely gone and shattered from all government school institutions and it shows. We are not where we're at today because somebody marched in Washington, held a protest and changed the world. That's not how we got here. It's just not. We got here by education and through education of the youth.

(12:30):

This is a very common practice by all standard people. Communists, it doesn't matter. Socialists, Nazis, whatever, it doesn't matter the name. Put a label on it, this is how change happens. Change happens through capturing the future. That's it. It's capturing the future. It's that simple.

(12:49):

What we saw during the debate of ex-president Donald Trump and the current sitting president Joe Biden, the things we saw there and the things that they were talking about were all things that stemmed from the country, from the culture, from education, and it's a sad thing. It's a very sad state of affairs where America is at today. America is becoming more barbaric or at least they're trying to make it more barbaric. Here's the shining light because I like with The Last Kingdom here to give us perspective. I asked the question at the beginning of this episode, is there a difference? Does a Christian perspective really change the world? And it does. That's the point.

(13:33):

The point is we don't sit in despair. We don't turn on our news and just complain about what's going on in the world, but what we see in the world tells us what we need to work on. That's right. It's like looking in the mirror and you know what you can see is there and you need to work on something.

(13:51):

This is what news and media should be to you. It kind of gives you a barometer of where the world is going, and as Christians, where we need to kind of focus, but we don't really need to use that as our guiding light. That's kind of the problems, becoming reactionary because you only focus on what other people then are wanting you to focus. They call that controlling the narrative. For Christians, we control the narrative, and this is why the Christian's perspective makes a giant impact.

(14:22):

See, it's not taking the world's problems and then taking the Bible and going, "Well, here's the problem. Let's go to the Bible, find out what God wants us to do with it and then let's tackle that problem because it's over there." That's treating the symptoms rather than the disease. It would be like a person having a sexually transmitted disease and treating the symptoms, trying to cure that disease, but they're continuing to go out and have sexual deviant sex.

(14:51):

Well, once again, that is not the problem. The problem, the root cause is the fact that you're a sexual deviant, not the fact that you have a disease. One causes the other. All of society's ills, all of them are religious in nature, and that means they're educational in nature. Everything, how you teach, how you rear, how you goad and promote, everything is religious in nature at its root. It all has a root. All the chaos that you see today, the hatred of what they are calling colonialism or whiteness, it's really neither one of those things, is Christian culture. They won't say that because they haven't gotten to the point now where they can come outright and just say they hate Christianity, but they're getting close.

(15:47):

Many, many sexual perverts are now taking over churches across the country. Some people are bemoaning this idea because now these churches, some of them are putting flags and rainbow flags all over their stuff to show that they are promoting sexual perversion as a holy thing, as a godly thing. I like that idea. Why? It lets you know who they are. Whenever there's a flag outside, you know what side they're on, and it's real simple to know who your friends are and who they're not. The problem isn't having enemies. The problem is not knowing who your friends are, and that's where the real problem comes in.

(16:27):

So if somebody is openly against you, that's not necessarily somebody you have to worry about because you know where they're at. It's what the old saying, I think it came from that TV series, The Expanse, is the forgotten arm. It's an old boxing term, whereas the arm that you forgot and that's the one that hits you and that's the one that knocks you out. So as Christians, we should not be reactionary. If we can see something, it's not really the danger. The danger is the things we don't look at.

(17:00):

When you want to distract somebody, and that's what all news media and television is, it's a distraction. They're hoping that you don't wisen up and focus on the root. They want you to focus on the disease. They want you to focus on the infection. They want you to focus on the bleeding but not the cause.

(17:18):

This passage here, "Raise up a child as he should go and when he is old, he'll not depart from it," or the better reading, which I liked from the Berkeley version, "Educate a child according to his life requirements. Even when he is old, he will not veer from it." No one can capture your child from you if you do your job. There is an immense power that the parents provide for their children, a protection, and it's not just a physical protection, it is a religious protection that they give to their children. It's the shield of faith, right? That is very important, parent.

(18:03):

Us Christians, you don't have to be scared of the world. You don't have to be a shivering mouse sitting on the side of the street in the gutter worried about all the things around you far from it, far from it. Don't you know it's the light that casts out the darkness? The darkness can never overtake the light. Wherever you're at, you are winning. Wherever your children are at, if they are godly, if they're promoting godliness, if they're trying to live righteous and in a righteous way, they are the dominant force on the planet. That's right.

(18:38):

It's not the death star. It is godly people who have faith. That is the ultimate power in the universe as far as man is concerned because when men stand with God, no one can defeat them. No one can defeat them. No one can touch you. No one can touch your family. No one can touch anything about you or your goals if you're a Christian, if you are a godly and you are doing what God wants you to do.

(19:09):

If you want to protect your children, then you need to transmit your faith, and that's why you're so dangerous if you're a Christian. That's why they want to separate the parent from the child. That's why they want government schools. They don't want the parents to transmit their faith, they want to transmit their faith to your child. And if you want to know what's happened over the last 25 to 50 years, I say 25 because within my lifetime that's what I have seen the most, what has happened is that division and that gap has gotten wider.

(19:42):

There are certain elements in our society, the Black culture in particular, and one thing that they're pointing out, "What is going on here? Why are there so many problems? Why are there so many videos of such chaos?" It's simple. The powers that be are allowed to promote the destruction of the Black family, and this is what good, godly, moral Black men and women have been pointing out, and most people try not to listen to them because it is a Christian perspective on how to fix this problem and how to give respect to yourself, people like yourself and your culture, your state, your society, your everything, your nation. They have to return to godly living, and that means rebuilding the family under God.

(20:31):

If you want to help people, you build their families on the rock, which is Christ, and the family comes first. It's not your nation first. Your little measly vote that you cast once every four years does not change the world. It's something you should participate in, obviously. It's something that you should get out there and do, of course, but understand that that's not where power comes from.

(20:59):

God controls everything. The things that are currently happening in America today, around the world, those things are going right according to plan. God's plan is coming along fantastically. You can wake up and not be concerned and scared. In fact, it is a sin, it is a sin to believe and fear for the future because God has told you what He is doing. He's told you He is in control. He has told you they have no power. He has told you they're going to lose. And when you wake up or if you post social media posts and you're scared or concerned, if you're spreading fear, spreading doubt, then you are committing grievous sins, grievous sins. You're calling God a liar.

(21:50):

It is the definition of bearing God's name in vain. That's what it is. You are, if you're a Christian, bearing God's name on you, and you should be pointing out, "God's told us what's going on, including our modern day, and we know where we're headed. We just have to work on the root," and the root is yourself, godly living, godly childbearing and rearing, and then godly influence in the culture. We are lights that cannot be put out. Our shield of faith quenches every fiery dart of the enemy. We don't have to fear about anything, nothing.

(22:34):

That's why I like sharing these ideas. I'm hoping that if you're listening to this, you're a fellow Christian, I'm hoping this will help you a little bit to get a better idea and worldview, as some people call it, that we are winning. You should wake up and be confident. Simple as that. Be confident in what you're doing and you're going to win. You don't have to try to change the world, just try to change yourself. Try to change your child, try to influence your friends, and that is something that will not be stopped.

(23:11):

The worst thing that could ever happen, the worst thing that could ever happen is that Christians stop being scared and they stand up. It's that simple, and there's no reason for you to be on the ground. There's no reason for you to be scared and concerned about the future. It's all under control. God has it squarely under control, and you need to give your children what they need for their life requirements, and the Bible tells us what those are in Ecclesiastes 12, "to fear God and to keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man."

(23:50):

So if you want to give your children the life requirements that they need, then you are going to need to teach them that, God's commandments. Teach them to revere God, trust God, believe in God, and obey God in everything that they do, and they will not only prosper themselves, they will prosper everyone around them and help change the world forever and bring about the last kingdom, Christ's kingdom and the destruction of humanism and man's rebellion.

(24:22):

Well, thank you again for joining me for The Last Kingdom. Fellow Christians, live in confidence and spread the good news, Christ is alive and on the throne, and we are going to win. Thank you and God bless.
